Final Update before departing

Hi everyone,

LOTS of information in this post so please pour yourselves a beer or a vino, put your feet up, relax and have a good read, then flick back over the last few posts and watch the videos - they are sublime!

This weekend is the last weekend that we will all be together for a few weeks so let's say hello and goodbye at the same time!

Hello to all our new beginners who have just completed 7 weeks of an 8 week course.

Goodbye to all the Nelsonians who are heading over to Wellington for the " biggest tango event of the year in NZ" (the NZ Tango Festival)

This Sunday 17 June
Open level technique class

St John's Hall, 320 Hardy St, (behind the Church)
Doors will open at 4.30 for a 5pm start. $15 each

(Free for Mon night Improvers and Wed night Beginners
who have already paid for this class in the course fee)

We will start the evening with an open level technique class from 5pm - 6.30pm and then we will segue into the milonguita (social night),  have a nibble to eat, drink and dance socially till about 8pm.

So, please bring a bite to share, some drinks and vessels to drink from!
We will welcome our very newest intake of beginners on the floor to dance with us for a couple of hours. This is great opportunity for them to meet everyone and see what a warm-hearted community we are! Please all try to come as it is also going to be the farewell to the festival team and tangueros as well who are heading over to fight the cold and blustering winds of Wellie all in the name of tango excellence!

I will play a quirky mix of trad and nuevo to get us in the party mood. I may even bring out my new playlists that were going to released at the festival ;-)

SPECIAL MESSAGE FOR THE BEGINNERS
Congratulations on sticking to it .... hope you had fun!
I will be returning from Wellington to start teaching again on Monday July 2.

You have migrated up to the "Improvers" class now and I hope you will join me for your first lesson on 2nd July.

The Wednesday night is allocated for Beginners Classes and everyone is very welcome to join that class again or you can come to the Improvers Course.

The Improvers class is held at:

St John's Hall, 320 Hardy St
Monday Nights from 2nd July
6pm - 7.15pm
$100 for 8 lessons

This is a great class and builds on what you have already learnt and focusses on getting  you moving around the floor with panache!  I help you to feel elegant when you dance by working on musicality and connection.

A new beginners course will start on :

Wednesday 15 August (until 3 October )
YMCA, Toi Toi St, Victory
6pm - 7.30pm
$100 for 8 lessons
Beginners from the last course can join this class again for $50.
It is a great idea to do it twice - it really gives you a solid foundation for the dance.

Please tell all your friends who want to learn tango to come along to this course.
It will be great to get another gaggle of dancers like yourselves enthusiastic about tango and this may very well be the last intake for this year.
We have time to get the basics in so we can dance our way through Summer in Nelson
(or anywhere else you travel to as well!)

MESSAGE FOR ALL FOLLOWERS

I have been asked to run a special Followers Technique Class.  This class will look at balance, pivot, musicality, adornments, advanced technique for ochos, gauchos, boleos and ideas to make your dancing smoother, more enjoyable and sexier!

The class will run over three weeks, is fabulously intense and is bootcamp in style (i.e. lots of repetition).  The teaching and learning will be incremental so please book in for all three classes to get the most out of it.  It is open to all levels of follower - whether you have been dancing 10 mins or 10 years - you will find this class invaluable!

Here are the dates:

Wednesdays
11, 18 and 25 July
YMCA, Toi Toi St, Victory
6pm - 7.30pm
$25 a class or
$60 for three classes

Take your dancing to the next level with this class.
Please email me to book in - I need a minimum of 8 followers to run this course.
Men who wish to improve or understand the follow aspect of the dance better are welcome and encouraged to join the class, however there will be no focus on the lead.

Please remember that all the Wednesday classes are followed by the Practica.  For $5 you can stay a little bit longer, revitalise yourselves with a cuppa and a biccie then start clocking up those kilometres on the dance floor!

OK I think you deserve a break now!

Thanks for taking the time to read all this info and I Iook forward to seeing you all on Sunday and then again a few weeks after that!

9 more sleeps till the festival!

Not far away now... all the preparations are going really well for the festival and we have quite a few Nelsonians coming over to Wellington - can't wait!

If you are humming and harring about whether to come or not - that's not a problem - there are many options to choose from:

1) 2 x Immersion + full festival pass (a total festival blow out, you will be exhausted and happy)
2) 1 x Immersion + full festival pass (a festival blow out, you will still be exhausted and happy)
3) Full festival pass (sensible and doable, you will be happy ;-))
4) One day pass (a taste of international teachers and a WOW performance, you will be happy)
5) Milongas only (4 nights of milongas, social dance and immerse yourself in the vibe, happy!!)

Ok that's my hard sell!
