Movie and Milonga 28 June

Queens Birthday Weekend Tango Activities!

Queens Birthday is upon us and I realised there was no milonga on
REALLY!

So here is the lineup for the weekend:
Sunday 4pm MILONGA class (St John's)
Sunday 5.45pm - 8pm free milonguita (The Boathouse)
Monday 6pm Improvers (St John's)
Monday 7.15 Intermediate (St John's)
Tuesday 6.30 Beginners (Fairfield House)

We have some visiting tangueros in town who are keen to dance so I have decided to put on a little milonguita at our favourite venue - The Boathouse.

Please come to the 4pm MILONGA class at St John's Hall and then head to the Boathouse with us to catch the last of the day's rays sink into the harbour over a glass or vino and a little shared plate of something.

Could be a good time to welcome those absolute beginners to join us and see what a tango social (milonga) is all about in the very relaxed atmosphere of the Boathouse.

BEGINNERS - you are welcome to bring children, family, friends and sit on the deck of the Boathose - it really is a lovely way to spend an evening and you will get to meet a few of the tangueros who are in town.

The Boathouse
Queen Birthday Sunday
5.45pm - 8pm

Bring a plate to share and your own glasses and drink.
I'll bring the music!

See you on the dance floor and in class!

TANGO WITH A TWIST

Thank you to all of you who came to the first viewing in NZ of Tango with a Twist.  It was certainly a treat to see all my old students again and to be reminded of the special community that we build around ourselves when we truly follow our passion.

I have forwarded on your lovely comments and emails to Nicky Pile the director as I am sure she will be stoked to know that the doco is still being well received.  It was shown in three film festivals in Sydney, Berlin and San Francisco ... and now in tango circles in NZ!  I have asked her for copies of the DVD to sell and will let those of you who asked if she can get hold of some.

MEANWHILE - tango continues.

Monday night classes this week will focus on connection and pivots and the second class will take the pivots further and focus on "unexpected pivots to spice up your tango!"

Tuesday night beginners class will look at the "la croce".  I must say it is amazing to see the beginners moving around the floor so elegantly after just two lessons!  WELL DONE!

This Sunday is the Verdict Milonga - I will be DJing.    Hope to see you all there after the 4pm Technique Class.
Verdict Restaurant
189 Bridge St from 5.30pm - 8ish
ALL BEGINNERS WELCOME!

Have a fabulous time if you are heading down to Christchurch for Tango Vibe - three nights of milongas organised by Frank.  I may even see you there for the Fri or Sat night!
Contact him directly for more info on symbolizer@mac.com

Have a  great weekend see you on the dance floor soon.
