Upcoming class news and Xmas Milonga

A quick reminder that there is no Sunday Class this Sunday 1st Dec.  I'm on holiday!

Monday Classes 2nd Dec
Beginners Class 6pm - 7.15pm
Nicki and Jon will be running the beginners class from 6pm - 7.15 on Monday night.  They will be consolidating the Salida Basica and Ocho Atras (back ocho).  Please come along and support them and the beginner students who, I have to say, are starting to move very fluidly around the dance floor.

Improvers/Intermediate Class 7.15pm - 8.45pm
The usual 7.15pm - 8.45pm class will turn into a practica.  The cost of the practica will be $5.  Please come along and have a practice dance on Monday night - Beginners are encouraged to stay and get lots of practice in.  The idea of a practica is we all help each other understand moves and practice good technique.

Sunday Technique Class 8 December, 5.30pm - 7pm
I will be back from holiday in time to teach on Sunday 8 Dec.  I hope to see you all there!

Xmas Milonga 20 Dec 6.30 - 11pm
Xmas is nearly upon us and I am already thinking of the menu for the Xmas Milonga.  Those of you who came last year will know that I cooked for you all and some very lovely people bought some yummy contributions to the dinner as well.  Then we danced it all off through the evening!  This year I have a guest DJ and maybe even some guest dancers from out of town.  So get dressed up and let's party tango style in what will be a truly lovely way to end the tango year.

I will need the RSVPs for the catering by 13 Dec at the latest so I can get really organised and buy all the provisions.  The cost is $30 per person and this includes delicious and healthy mains, naughty desserts and simple soft drinks.  Please BYO if you want a glass of vino! Children can eat for $15 each.  I try and cater for vegetarians and carnivores.  If you have other serious dietary needs please let me know and I all do my best to provide options for you as well.

So put the 20th Dec in your diary now and email me your intent to come.  If you can please pay before hand that would be really helpful.  You can give me the money in class :-)

I hope you all have a wonderful week and see you on the 8th Dec in the Sunday Technique Class.

Ines and Pablo - Thank you

Hi everyone,

Just a quick thank you to all who came and supported Ines and Pablo while they were here in Nelson.  We had a weekend bursting at the seams with tango activities -  6 workshops and three milongas - they have left with the BEST impression of the friendliness and commitment of the Nelson tangueros.  So a generous thank you to all of you who supported the weekend by coming to classes or milongas or dinners or all!  Clearly this weekend would not have been nearly as successful if it wasn't for you!

It is always a pleasure to host such vibrant, fun teachers who open their hearts and share their knowledge.  Who also, I think, are not afraid of pushing the boundaries of dance exercises to show another way!  (those of you who came to the Monday class will know exactly what I mean ;-))

Meanwhile - back to our quieter lessons ….

SUNDAY CLASS
See you all on Sunday at 4pm for our regular Sunday class. Note the earlier time as the Verdict Milonga will be following the class.
This weeks class will focus on C&P (Connection and Projection).
All levels welcome! $15 Old St John's.

NOTE FOR FUTURE
There will be be no Sunday class on 1st Dec as I will be high tailing it to Auckland for my beautiful niece's wedding!  Class will resume on 8th Dec.

International Tango teachers coming to Nelson

Our guests are in Sydney at the moment and are then heading to Nelson on Thursday

**Exciting**

Update....

Workshops are attached in the email.  Please have a good read and book in if you have not already done so.   You can pay in full in class tonight, on this Friday night or at the workshops over the weekend.

Private lessons are filling up. The cost is $80 an hour and you can have them with either or both of them.  They will be held at The Tango Room in Dundas St.  There is one space available on the Thurs night from 7-8pm,  no space left on Friday, one space on Sunday from midday to 1pm, and a few spaces left on Monday afternoon from 2pm - 6pm.  Contact me to book.

FRI NIGHT MILONGA  7-11pm
Don't forget to be on time as the Tango Elements class starts at 7pm followed by the Milonga (social dancing night).  The cost for both the class and the Milonga is $25.
This is the perfect class to kick start your tango again if you haven't been for a while!
If you cannot make the class and want to come to the Milonga only it starts at 8.30pm and the cost is $15 on the door.
Let's give our travelling tango guests a big friendly warm welcome Nelson style!    It is their first time in NZ and they are pretty excited about coming here :-)

I suggest guys wearing your most fabulous shirts to wow the Argentineans!

SAT NIGHT MILONGA
For the Sat night Milonga we have a guest DJ.   DJ Grigor Aslanyan Dj'd the opening night of the NZ Tango Festival this year and he will regale us with his fabulous music selection at Bar Berlin.  You can read his bio here .  The milonga on Sat night is included in the Package Deal of $145 otherwise it is $15 on the door. There will be a performance around 9pm ish.

Remember Bar Berlin serves great pizza so maybe come a little bit hungry as well!

SUNDAY FAREWELL MILONGA
This little relaxed milonga has always proven a popular one and will be at the Boathouse in Rocks Road (straight after the last class finishes) at 5.45pm.  Remember to bring a plate to share and your own drinking vessels and drink!  There is no bar available.  It is a free event and is a very lovely way to finish the weekend, soaking in the last rays of the day whilst over looking the harbour and dancing up a storm.

Please spread the word to dancers you know and get them back on the floor learning from this fun young couple.  Looking forward to seeing you all at the workshops, the milongas, all or some is good!

Abrazos,

A-M
