Sunday technique class this week will be looking at some tasty little cross system morsels - hope you can make it!
We will start at the earlier time of 4pm to accommodate the Verdict Milonga which commences 5.30 - 8ish.
Beginners, this is a free milonga (social dance time) and it would be great for you to come and have a look. You may even feel brave enough to have a spin around the floor!
This months DJ will be Graham Galt of Cafe del Tango @ Kush fame. I look forward to putting my dancing shoes on and not Djing Graham ;-)
Please support the venue by buying dinner/drinks.
PRIVATES
I have a couple of spots which have just become available due to students going away for work .... if you want to do a few weeks of intensive privates to kick start your tango or just to improve ... speak to me!
See you on Sunday tangueros.
Nina our Friday night Dj at the Playhouse sneaking in a dance !
Wow I feel like I have been to Tango heaven and back!
THANK YOU
What an amazing Tango feast. We had it all..... a weekend of fabulous music from our gorgeous Djs, awesome dancing, meeting new people and dancing with the oldies (as in more experienced!). We had sun, rain, sun and cloud, hot and cold. Sore feet and yummy treats.
A heartfelt thank you to our Djs, Nina (Wellington), Marion (Christchurch) and Maida (Auckland) who kept us moving the whole time. Did you notice that there was never a tanda when the dance floor wasn't heaving? This is no small feat from our Djs with their exceptional selection of tunes and for this I thank the three of you again and again!
Thank you to THE DANCERS - yes that is you- who gave so generously of your time and asked people you didn't know to dance, got beginners up on their feet and generally spread the tango love! It is wonderful to put on an event where people mix and mingle so well and want to ensure that everyone gets a dance and goes home exhausted, happy and raring to come again next year!
Of course I cannot do this alone, (although over the years I have been trying to cultivate Superwoman status) - Nicki, Sophie, Gavin, Juliette, Halfdan, Cheryl, Jeanneane, James, Rachel and Clare.... thanks for helping me keep it together and for all those last minute details that needed sorting. You were fabulous.
Thank you to the Nelsonians who provided nibbles on Sunday and the Nelson bakers - Madeline your apple tart was scrumptious and Yvonne your lemony sweet treats were divine ... I should know I had a few!
If you have piccs that you would like to submit please email me with them and I will put them up for you. Frank's are being posted to the Facebook page as I write.....
If you have access to Facebook please like our page Summer Tango in Nelson, tell your friends and I will send out info soon on the dates for next year so have plenty of time to add us to your dancing calendar and to book those grabaseats.
Below is a beautiful little clip from the Sunday afternoon Fellworth Milonga from Frank.
A few last minute details for the out-of-towners....

I have another couple of locals who can pick you up so let me know if you require a lift and we can make sure you get there!
Let me know as soon as you can about your requirements.

There is a bus ($3 each way) which will take you from town to the Suburban Club in Tahunanui.
Call 548 6815 to secure a seat and ask them to pick you up from 1903 Square at 7pm. If you are staying at Fellworth you can get them to pick you up from there so you don't have to worry about walking in to town (although the walk is lovely!)
Alternatively you could share a taxi with your new friends (approx cost $20 one way). Call Nelson City Taxis on 5488225.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON MILONGUITA AT 1903 SQUARE, 1.30 - 4pm

Fellworth House is walking distance from anywhere in town and situated on the side of the Centre of NZ hill. Here is a map so you can get there in time for the last milonga of the weekend. Take a walk through the Queens Gardens on the way and enjoy the lovely bush walk up to the house on the right or take the driveway!
Thank you to those who are hosting some of our guests - it is much appreciated by me and them.
